Data Capture Techniques:
Digitizing, Scanning, etc.
We capture data from hard copy and ortho-register important
details such as local mine grids, shaft locations, underground workings,
etc. to real world projections. This enables us to "derive" collar locations
(x,y,z) when coordinates for historic drill holes are missing. We populate
a central spreadsheet with the derived coordinates and report the source
of this conversion in the data set -- i.e., if missing elevations, we superimpose
topography and derive the estimated elevation, then make a note: "elevation
derived from digitizing..." This way, drill hole data that is missing x,y,z
can be utilized in the resource estimate.
Scanning:
We have access to large format
scanners. A scanned image can be rectified and projected to real world
coordinates, then used with other spatial data.
Original hard copies of logged
observations and codes are deciphered and in some cases, translated from
Spanish to English...
...correlations entered by hand
into a centralized spreadsheet...
